The "Diagnosis of jobs, trades and skills requirements in the building sector up to 2030" presents the labor requirements and trades involved in accelerating the transformation of the building sector to meet energy targets by 2030.  It covers the fields of high-performance construction and renovation in the residential and tertiary sectors. Labor requirements are presented in full-time equivalents (FTE), a unit of measurement proportional to the number of hours worked by an employee. The number of individuals is higher than the number of FTEs, as not all of them devote full time to energy renovation, which means that more people need to be trained than FTEs.

« The transition required between now and 2050 is an incredible climb, and it's almost a wall. We should be aiming for almost a million BBC renovations in housing every year. »

This diagnosis presents the opportunities, obstacles and challenges facing the building sector if it is to meet the target of reducing France's greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030 compared to 1990 levels (Fit for 55), and move towards carbon neutrality and a building stock renovated to Bâtiment Basse Consommation or equivalent levels by 2050.
