Thanks to its diagnostic work, the BUS2 community has been able to identify several key lessons that will enable us to achieve our 2030 objectives:

  1. The sector will need to recruit on a massive scale to meet this additional need (in particular, site managers, site supervisors, electricians, heating engineers/plumbers), while at the same time compensating for the number of workers leaving the sector each year (retirement, retraining, etc.).

  2. Technical and, more broadly, financial and social support for project owners needs to be developed, and nearly 8,000 FTEs are required (compared with around 5,000 FTEs today) for housing renovation.

  3. Building professionals will need to strengthen their technical skills related to energy performance, as well as their cross-disciplinary skills in co-activity and coordination. Related professions, such as real estate professionals, will also need to upgrade their skills to incorporate energy efficiency issues into their advice and support.

  4. The new-build sector, while respecting environmental requirements, could progressively integrate more heavy rehabilitation and associated energy renovation activities.
